It was the tradition that the first-born daughter be named after her maternal grandmother – Agnes McNay - so when this little girl arrived, she was named Agnes Heather. She hated her name and eventually became known as Sally which name stuck with her forever after.

Miss Dorothy Williams presided at the organ and as the bridal party entered the church the marriage hymn “The Voice That Breathed O’er Eden” was sung. The bride who was given away by her father, wore a simple gown of ivory ring velvet with a train of white tulle underlined with palest pink over which fell a pretty embroidered tulle veil finished with a wreath of orange blossom, and carried a beautiful shower bouquet of white azalea, pink and white heather and fern. The bridesmaids, Misses Linda Bradford, Melva Warren (cousin of the bride) and Merva (sister of the bride) wore pretty frocks of white windswept satin with cowl collars of apple green, and carried bouquets of pale pink roses, heather and fern. The two little train-bearers (Olive Edwards and June Coates) looked sweet in their long frocks of apple green windswept satin and wore hair bands of pink blossom.Marcelle Edwards (sister of the bride) also made a charming little figure in her long frock of apple green windswept satin and led the wedding party carrying a beautiful white satin cushion on which the bride knelt at the altar. The bride’s mother (Mrs. W.J.
