Mr. Charles Coomber received a telegram from Dunedin on Tuesday (to-day) to the effect that Charles Julian, a member of the Permanent Militia, stationed at the Otago Heads battery, had dropped dead from heart disease this morning. The deceased was the son of Mr. Samuel Julian, of Koru, and was about twenty-six years of age. He was well known throughout New Zealand for his athletic prowess, being a rather exceptional jumper and vaulter. His friends, in Taranaki in particular, will be grieved to hear the sad news of his death.
