As a young woman, Marcelle found work at one of the top dress designers in Melbourne at the time – Lucy Secore. Marcelle became an highly skilled dressmaker and did beautiful "Cornelli" work. She was so valued by her employer she was given her wedding dress as a gift when she married Thomas O’Shea.

Water Lilies Carried
Water lilies were carried against the embroidered crepe gown worn by Marcelle, daughter of Mrs. Edwards, Flinders street, Thornbury, and the late Mr. W. J. Edwards, at her marriage with Thomas, only son of the late Mr. and Mrs. O'Shea, formerly of Yarraville, which was celebrated at St. Patrick's Cathedral yesterday.Miss Olive Edwards was the only bridesmaid."The Age", 26 November 1943

Embroidered Cream Crepe – O’Shea – EdwardsThe marriage of Marcelle, daughter of the late Mr. W.J. Edwards and of Mrs. Edwards, 97 Flinders Street, Thornbury, to Thomas, only son of the late Mr. and Mrs. O’Shea of Yarraville, was celebrated at St. Patrick’s Cathedral on November 25, 1943 at 5.30 pm.The bride who was given away by her uncle, Sgt. Les. Warren (A.I.F. Returned) made a charming picture in a gown of cream crepe embroidered with silk floss and pearl. She carried a bouquet of water lilies. Her youngster sister, Olive, as bridesmaid, wore a pretty gown of harvest gold lace and carried a bouquet of pastel roses.The bridegroom was supported by Mr. Sam Fleming as best man.Later a breakfast and reception were held at the Victoria Coffee Palace, Melbourne.Note that the reception, held at the Victoria Coffee Palace, Melbourne, was managed by Marcelle’s uncle, Vic Warren.
