MR. VICTOR CHARLES HAYWOOD

The death occurred at the Spencer Hospital, Wynyard, on Thursday, January 15th, of Victor Charles Haywood, the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Haywood, Forest. The funeral took place at the Church of England cemetery, Forest, on Saturday 17th, and was attended by a large number of friends of the deceased. The carriers were Messrs S. C. Hills, A. Ambrose, I. and V. House, A. Medwin and W. Thorpe, and the pall-bearers were Messrs A.D., B. and L.F. Thorpe, and L. O’Connor.

The late Mr. Haywood was born at Myrtle Grove, Forest, and was 56 years of age. While still a youth he went to South Forest, where he carried on farming operations. Twenty years ago he purchased the general store at South Forest from his cousin, Mr. Arch. Haywood, and carried this on in addition to his agricultural pursuits. He had resided in Circular Head all his life. A prominent member of the U.A.O.D. and I.O.O.F. lodges, the deceased was of a

quiet retiring disposition. He was ever ready to lend a helping hand to any deserving cause, and his passing will be deeply regretted by his friends and neighbours. He leaves a widow, formerly Miss Dorothy Moore, Devonport, a brother Edward, two sisters, Mesdames. E.C. Boys and H. Tuxworth.
