There is an intriguing record for an Ann Manning, aged 72, leaving England for the USA.
At age 72 years, Ann left the port of St. Johns Halifax on board the ship 'Silvia' bound for New York. She arrived into New York on June 1 in 1903. The information included her status as 'Widow'.
The record for arriving passengers into New York showed Ann Manning had her passage paid for by her niece and that her final destination was Long Island. She had no money with her but she had a bank account. It appears she travelled with four young people whose names were Lottie Young, aged 16 years, Gladis Young, aged 8 years, Jessie Young, aged 10 years and Abbie Young, aged years.
Was this 'our' Ann Manning??
