MAGISTERIAL ENQUIRY
At the South Brisbane Police Court on Monday Mr. R.D. Neilson, J.P. held an inquiry into the circumstances touching the death of a 4 year old child named Victor Leslie Taylor, who died suddenly at his home on the Ipswich Road, South Brisbane on the evening of the 3rd instant.

Senior Sergeant Bain had charge of the evidence, Sergeant Quinn, Constable Maher, Emma Taylor (mother) Archie D. Tacey, Michael Giffney, and Henry Steele were examined.

The facts elicited briefly were that the lad was playing in his back yard during the day, and having found a bottle containing white-ant exterminator drank portion of the contents with the result that he sickened, and eventually died from arsenical poisoning.

The bottle in question had been placed near the chimney of deceased's home by a carpenter who was engaged in effecting repairs and eradicating white ants in the adjoining house.

Two medical men had been called in to prescribe for the child, but they were unable to save him.

The Government Analyst had examined a quantity of fluid which had been taken from the stomach of the boy and traces of arsenic were found therein.  The liquid in the bottle was also analysed and was stated to contain 10.46 per cent of arsenic.  The inquiry then closed.
