1943 – Marriage
Wedding Bells - WARREN-COLWELL.
An interesting wedding was celebrated on Saturday last, April 3, at the Church of Christ, Sunshine, Melba Myrtle, elder daughter of Staff-Sergeant and Mrs. L. L. Warren, of Victoria St., Sunshine, and Rollet Murray Colwell, of Hampshire Crescent, Sunshine, being the contracting parties.

The bridegroom is the only son of Mrs. D. and the late Mr. Colwell. Mr. A. Bennett, minister of the Church, officiated.

The bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming attired in a gown of rich white satin, the front of the bodice being beautifully beaded and tiny buttons were fastened at the back, the skirt falling into a circular train. An embroidered tulle veil with a coronet of roses and tuber-roses completed her attire. A sheaf of choice roses and dahlias with fine maidenhair fern was carried.

Miss Doreen Colwell, who accompanied the bride as bridesmaid, was attractively dressed in pale hydrangea blue frock of net, made with a full skirt. Deep red cactus dahlias were carried and also worn in her hair.

The Church was decorated with pink gladioli and Easter daisies. Miss V. Thompson pleasingly rendered two appropriate songs, while the newly married couple signed the register
Mr. Wright officiated at the organ. Mr. V. Shields acted as best man.  After the ceremony, the many friends and relatives were entertained at the Methodist School Hall. Mrs. Colwell assisted Mrs. Warren in receiving the guests.

The bride's mother wore a frock of varicoloured silk and a blue coat, hat and accessories to tone. The bridegroom's mother was attired in a light blue ensemble with hat to match.
The bride's travelling costume was of Laxe blue and small hat the same colour, trimmed effectively with pastel hand-made flowers.

Many congratulatory messages were received, and the presents were numerous and costly, including some cheques
